# Import contacts

> Bring existing customers into Quoterium: pick contacts straight from Xero while writing a quote, or ask us about moving a larger list.

There is no spreadsheet upload for clients and contacts in the app at the moment. Here are the ways to bring your existing customers in.

## From Xero, as you go

If your organisation uses Xero, you don't need to copy contacts across in advance.

1. Connect Xero (an admin does this once). See [Connect Xero](https://quoterium.com/help/payments-and-xero/connect-xero).
2. In the quote editor's **Prepared for** box, type at least two letters of a name or email.
3. Results marked **In Xero** come from your Xero organisation. Pick one.

Quoterium creates the contact (and, when the Xero contact is a company, the client) and links it to the Xero record, so later invoices go to the right Xero contact. If a matching record already exists it is reused. The same search works in the **Add another recipient…** box on a quote.

## Adding people by hand

For a handful of customers, adding them directly is quickest: see [Add and edit clients](https://quoterium.com/help/clients-and-contacts/add-and-edit-clients) and [Add and edit contacts](https://quoterium.com/help/clients-and-contacts/add-and-edit-contacts). You can also create a contact and their company on the spot from the quote editor with **+ New contact**.

## Moving a larger list

If you are moving from another system and have a large export of customers (and perhaps past quotes), [contact support](https://quoterium.com/support) and tell us what you have. We'll let you know what we can bring across for you.

## What about library items?

Price and text items do have a CSV import and export. See [Import and export library items](https://quoterium.com/help/library-and-templates/import-export-library).
