# Private notes on clients

> Keep internal notes about a client that your team can see but customers never do. They are copied into new quotes started from the client.

Private notes are for anything your team should know about a client: how they like to be quoted, who signs off, agreed discounts, history. Customers never see them.

## Write or update notes

1. Open the client from [**Clients**](https://app.quoterium.com/clients).
2. Type in the **Private notes** box on the left. It is a plain text box.
3. Notes save by themselves a moment after you stop typing, or when you leave the box; the heading shows **Saved**.

## How notes reach your quotes

When you start a new quote from the client's page, the client's private notes are copied into the quote's own **Private notes** (shown in the editor as **Hidden from customer**). The copy belongs to the quote: you can edit it there without changing the client's notes, and later changes to the client's notes don't alter existing quotes.

A quote's private notes can be edited at any time, even while the quote is live with the customer.

## Who can see them

Everyone in your organisation can read and edit private notes. They are never shown on the customer's quote page, in the PDF or in emails.
