# How the dashboard handles currencies

> How quotes in different currencies are added up on the dashboard and the quotes list, and how to view your figures in another currency.

Your team may send quotes in several currencies. To add them up fairly, the dashboard works from each quote's value in your base currency.

## How the figures are worked out

1. Every quote stores its total in your base currency, converted at the rate stored on that quote.
2. The dashboard adds up those base-currency values.
3. If you choose a different **Currency** at the top of the dashboard, the sums are converted from your base currency at today's daily rate.

Your margins and fixed rates are not applied to dashboard figures; they only affect prices on quotes.

## Quotes in other currencies

When some of the sent and accepted quotes in the period are in a currency other than the one shown, a line under the figures says so for each currency: “Quotes in other currencies count at the GBP value stored with each: £10,600.00 from 3 EUR quotes.” when your base currency is GBP, for example. If the currency shown is not your base currency, the line goes on “Shown in EUR at today's rate” with the date of the rate. When every quote is in the currency shown, there is no such line.

## Elsewhere

- On the Quotes page and a client's page, a quote in another currency shows its total in that currency, with the base-currency value beneath. In the dashboard's lists, totals are shown in the currency chosen at the top, with the quote's own amount beneath when it differs.
- Client statistics are shown in your base currency.
- **Export CSV** on the Quotes page includes each quote's currency, total, base-currency total and exchange rate.

## Why the numbers can differ

A quote's base value uses the rate stored on that quote, not today's rate. If rates have moved since it was priced, its value in your base currency stays as it was. This keeps your history stable: last quarter's figures do not change because the exchange rate did.
