# Accepting a quote with an e-signature

> What your customer does to accept: verify their email if required, agree to your statement, sign by drawing or typing, and add a reference.

Quoterium has electronic signatures built in. Your customer accepts on their quote page without creating an account or using another service. What they are asked for depends on your [acceptance and e-signature settings](https://quoterium.com/help/customer-view-and-e-signature/acceptance-and-e-signature-settings).

## How the customer accepts

1. They click **Accept quote** in the bar at the bottom of the page. A dialog shows the quote number, title and total.
2. If email verification is switched on, they complete **Step 1 · Verify your email** by entering a code sent to their inbox. See [Email verification codes](https://quoterium.com/help/customer-view-and-e-signature/email-verification-codes).
3. They read your acceptance statement and, if you require it, tick **I have read and agree to the above**.
4. They check **Your name**. It is filled in from the contact, and they can correct it.
5. They sign under **Signature**: on the **Draw** tab with a mouse, pen or finger, or on the **Type** tab by typing their name. **Clear** starts the drawing again. Depending on your settings, the signature is optional or required; when it is set to **Not asked**, this step does not appear.
6. If you ask for them, they add an **Order / reference number** and **Additional comments**. Both are optional.
7. They click **Accept**.

If something is missing, the **Accept** button stays unavailable until it is filled in.

## What is recorded

- The customer's option choices and quantities.
- Their name, email address (and whether it was verified), the signature, any reference and comments.
- A digital fingerprint: the time in UTC, IP address and browser or device.
- A certificate id and a document hash, a unique fingerprint of exactly what was agreed. See [The signature certificate and audit trail](https://quoterium.com/help/customer-view-and-e-signature/signature-certificate-and-audit-trail).

## What happens next

- The quote's status becomes **Accepted**. The customer's page shows who accepted, when, the signature and the signature details.
- The customer receives a thank-you email with a link back to the accepted quote.
- The quote owner receives an email with the details. Anyone listed under **BCC on acceptance** in **Settings → Emails & sending** gets a copy.
- In the editor, a green notice shows who accepted, the certificate id and whether the email was verified, with a **Countersign** link. See [Countersign an accepted quote](https://quoterium.com/help/customer-view-and-e-signature/countersign-a-quote).

A quote can only be accepted while it is Sent and before the end of its **Valid until** date.
