Draft template. This page has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It must be checked, and the details in square brackets completed, before Quoterium is launched.

The short version: Quoterium does not use cookies — not on this website, not in the app and not on the pages your clients see. We use no advertising or cross-site tracking tools; website visits are counted with Plausible, which uses no cookies. The app keeps a small amount of information in your browser’s own storage so that you stay signed in, as explained below. This page is provided by [Company legal name]; see our privacy policy for how we handle personal data generally.

This website

This website sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. We count visits to this website with Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly tool that runs on our own server (plausible.keepthinking.net). It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser; it records the page visited, the referring site, browser, operating system, device type and country, and counts a few actions such as starting a trial or sending the support form. Your IP address is used only to derive the country and to count unique visits through a daily-rotating, irreversible hash; it is not stored, and the data is not shared with anyone. The app and your clients’ quote pages are not measured. The support form protects itself from spam without cookies or third parties: a hidden field, a signed time stamp, and a short calculation your browser does in the background before sending (nothing for you to click or solve, and nothing stored on your device).

The website’s typeface, Archivo, is loaded from Google Fonts. To fetch it, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which means Google receives your IP address and basic browser information. Loading the fonts does not set cookies on our website. Google’s handling of that data is described in its own privacy policy.

The Quoterium app

The app does not use cookies either. When you sign in, it keeps the following in your browser’s storage. This information never leaves your device except for the sign-in token, which is sent to our server with each request to prove who you are.

NamePurposeHow long
tokenYour sign-in token. Without it you would have to sign in on every page.Until you sign out, or for up to 30 days
organisation_idWhich of your organisations you are working in.Until you sign out
dashboard_scope, dashboard_period, dashboard_currencyRemembers the dashboard view you chose: your quotes or everyone’s, the period and the currency.Until you clear your browser’s data
library_kindRemembers whether you were last looking at price items or text items in the library.Until you clear your browser’s data
media_save_to_libraryRemembers whether “Save to the file library” was ticked last time you added a file.Until you clear your browser’s data
chunk-reload-atLets the app reload itself once after we release an update, instead of showing an error.Until you close the tab

The first two are strictly necessary for the app to work. The others only remember your choices on your own device. All but the last are kept in local storage; chunk-reload-at is kept in session storage, which your browser clears when the tab is closed.

The app loads the same Archivo typeface from Google Fonts, with the same effect as on this website.

Your clients’ quote pages

The page your clients see when they open a quote sets no cookies and stores nothing in their browser, apart from the short-lived chunk-reload-at marker described above if we release an update while the page is open. It loads the Archivo typeface from Google Fonts like the rest of Quoterium, or the Google font the organisation has chosen for its quotes. To show you when a quote has been viewed, our server records the time, IP address and browser of each visit; this is not a cookie and is explained in the privacy policy.

Emails

Emails sent through Quoterium ask the recipient’s email program to load the Archivo typeface from Google Fonts. Many email programs block or proxy such requests; where they do not, Google receives the reader’s IP address. The organisation’s logo in an email is loaded from our server in the same way. Our emails contain no tracking pixels: we do not record whether an email was opened.

Other services

Some actions take you to another company’s website, which has its own cookie policy:

  • Stripe, when you subscribe, update your card or view invoices through Stripe’s checkout and billing pages;
  • Xero, when an admin connects or reconnects your Xero organisation.

Managing browser storage

Signing out of the app removes the sign-in token and the organisation choice. You can remove everything else by clearing the site data for Quoterium in your browser’s settings. Doing so simply signs you out and resets the dashboard and library views, and the file library choice, to their defaults.

Changes

If we ever start using cookies or similar technologies that are not strictly necessary, we will update this page first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before setting them. Questions are welcome through our contact form.
