Quoterium lets you quote in any currency while keeping your prices and reporting in one place.
Base currency and quote currency
- Your base currency is chosen when the organisation is created. Library items and templates are priced in it, and all statistics are reported in it.
- Each quote has its own quote currency. The customer only ever sees the quote currency.
When the two differ, every price item keeps both values: the price in the quote currency, and the base price it came from.
Which currency a new quote starts in
- The client's Preferred quoting currency, when you start the quote from the client's page.
- Otherwise the template's currency.
- Otherwise the Default currency in Settings → Quote defaults.
You can change it at any time before sending. See Change a quote's currency.
How prices are converted
- Quoterium uses the European Central Bank's daily reference rates. They are published on working days; at weekends and on holidays the most recent rate is used.
- Your admin can add a margin on top of the daily rate, or fix the rate for a currency. See Exchange rates, margins and fixed rates.
- Converted prices can be rounded to a tidy step, such as the nearest 5. See Rounding converted prices.
The rate is stored on the quote
When a quote is priced, the rate and its date are saved with it. The quote keeps that rate until you change the currency or refresh the rate, so prices do not shift while the customer is deciding. The Settings tab shows the rate as "1 GBP = 1.1700 EUR" (for example), then "rate of" and its date, then its source printed as stored: frankfurter (the daily rate), frankfurter+margin (the daily rate plus your margin) or fixed (a fixed rate from your settings); a rate you typed yourself shows as manual rate instead. The Change currency dialog prints the source the same way after the rate's date.
Where you see the base currency
- Under each unit price in the editor.
- Under the total in the Totals panel, with the rate used.
- Under the total in every quotes list: the Quotes page and a client's page. On the dashboard, totals follow the currency you choose there, with the quote's own amount beneath.
Editing prices in a foreign-currency quote
If you type a price in the quote currency, its base price is updated to match. Refreshing the rate later re-prices every item from its base price, so your edit is carried through at the new rate.
