A template is a complete quote without a customer: introduction, items, terms, notes, payment milestones and settings. Starting from a template saves you rebuilding the same structure each time.
Templates live in the library: go to Library → Quote templates. Each card shows the template's name, title, when it was last updated and by whom, and its total.
The default template
One template is marked Default template. It is used when you start a quote without choosing one, for example with New quote on a client's page. Every new organisation starts with a default template called "Standard quote", with an introduction and an example item for you to replace.
To make another template the default, open its ⋯ menu and choose Set as default. The default template can't be deleted; make another one the default first.
Start a quote from a template
- Choose New quote at the top of any page. The dialog lists Empty quote and every template, with the default one marked; pick one.
- Or open the template's ⋯ menu and choose New quote from this template.
The new quote gets its own copy of everything in the template. Changing the template later doesn't affect quotes already created from it, and changing the quote doesn't affect the template.
An Empty quote uses the default text, payment terms and milestones from Settings → Quote defaults instead. See Quote defaults.
Managing templates
The ⋯ menu on each card also has Open in editor, Duplicate and Delete. Deleting a template doesn't affect quotes created from it.
