Quote defaults apply to every new quote. Each quote can still be changed individually. Go to Settings → Quote defaults (admins only) and choose Save changes when you're done.
Currency and tax
- Default currency: the currency new quotes start in. Your base currency is shown underneath; quotes in another currency are converted at the day's rate. See Multi-currency quotes.
- Tax: Added to prices, Included in prices or No tax.
- Tax label: what tax is called on your quotes, such as VAT, GST or Sales tax.
Numbering, validity and follow-ups
- Quote prefix and Next number, for example Q- and 1001. The next number must be higher than any number already used.
- Valid for (days): how long a new quote is valid before it expires.
- Follow-up after (days): when a sent quote without a follow-up is flagged for one (3 days unless you change it). See Follow-ups.
New quotes
Under Start with, choose what a quote or template started from scratch contains: A text block or A price item, empty and ready to fill in, or Nothing. A price item gets your default tax rate and sales category. Quotes made from a template get the template's items instead.
Rounding converted prices
Price rounding rounds prices in other currencies to the nearest 1, 5, 10, 50 or 100, so a converted price of 1,234.56 becomes 1,235 with a step of 5. Choose None (exact) to keep exact prices.
Default text
Terms & conditions and Notes to customer are used when a template doesn't have its own. An introduction isn't set here: it's a text item, which you keep in your library and templates.
Payment terms and milestones
Payment terms and Default milestones are used for quotes started as an Empty quote; templates carry their own schedule. Each milestone is a percentage of the one-off total. See Payment milestones.
