A price item is one line of what you are selling: a heading, an optional description, a quantity and a price.
Add a price item
- Click + Price item below the last item, or
- hover between two items and choose + Price item to insert one there.
The fields
- Heading: what the customer is buying. As you type, matching items from your library appear; pick one to fill in the whole item. See Arrange items and reuse them from the library.
- Description: rich text with formatting, lists, tables, images and files; pictures and documents for an item go here, with Insert image and Attach file in the toolbar. See Formatting, images and attachments.
- Qty and Unit: for example 3 and "day". On the customer page the unit follows the quantity, as in "3 days".
- Unit price: in the quote's currency. You can type a sum such as 120*3+10; it is worked out when you leave the field.
- Tax: the tax rate for this line, or No tax. See Tax and how customers see prices.
- Total: quantity × unit price, less any item discount. It is calculated for you.
- Code: appears when Show item codes is ticked on the Settings tab.
When the quote is in a currency other than your base currency, the base-currency price is shown under the unit price. Typing a new price in the quote currency updates the base price to match.
The item menu
The ⋯ button beside each item opens its menu. Options that are switched on show a tick and appear as a short line under the numbers.
- Optional item, Multiple choice and Editable quantity: let the customer choose. See Optional, multiple-choice and editable-quantity items.
- % of items above: see Percentage-priced items.
- Subscription: see Subscriptions and recurring items.
- Discount and Cost & markup: see Discounts, cost and margin.
- Sales category: a category for reporting and accounting, hidden from the customer. Only shown when your organisation has sales categories.
- Save to library, or for an item from the library, Push changes to library and Unlink from library. See Arrange items and reuse them from the library.
- Duplicate, Move up, Move down and Delete.
